Gov. JB Pritzker Joins Illinois Office to Prevent and End Homelessness to Announce New Action Plan

In Illinois, Black residents are eight times more likely to be homeless than white residents. On Thursday, April 25, Governor JB Pritzker announced the release of a report on racial disparities in homelessness. The report, produced by The UIC Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy (IRRPP), analyzes the causes of this disparity and suggests actions that the state can take.

IRRPP worked in close coordination with a Racial Equity Roundtable on Black Homelessness, composed of Black leaders and experts from around the state doing work to support the homeless population in Illinois. All Chicago President & CEO Carolyn K. Ross was honored to serve on the Roundtable.
