Trauma Informed Care in the Real World: A Training for Direct Service Staff
January 15, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
Research shows that 87% of direct service staff working with people experiencing homelessness find their work meaningful and worthwhile. However, 90% also report increased stress (NAEH, 2023). Please join us for an in-person training on trauma-informed care for direct service outreach and housing staff, which will focus on trauma informed and protective strategies for both program participants and the staff who work with them.
In this highly interactive 3.5 hour training, participants will learn how to:
- Recognize trauma reactions in themselves and the people they are working with without straying into the realm of therapy.
- Practice trauma-informed skills and strategies for common situations and stressors that present when working with people experiencing homelessness.
- Identify strategies to protect against trauma, vicarious trauma and burnout for themselves.
