The CoC currently engages in occasional advocacy efforts, such as mobilizing, raising awareness, addressing systemic barriers, and influencing policies and practices. However, in for the past several years, CoC members have raised the need for an advocacy focus area to ensure the activities are led by the CoC in a coordinated, efficient and effective way to advance the CoC’s mission.

At a 2024 CoC Board Meeting, the CoC Board asked the CoC Lead Agency – All Chicago – to gather input from the Chicago CoC Membership about how the CoC could engage in Advocacy, and what issues the CoC would Advocacy for. The Board’s decision was made after broad feedback from the CoC noted the absence of a coordinated advocacy strategy, a critical component for carrying out the CoC’s mission.
