All Chicago Making Homelessness History, Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) Illinois, Illinois Public Health Institute (IPHI), and Chicago Coalition to End Homelessness (CCH) have collaboratively launched the Chicago Homeless System Redesign Initiative.
Too often, people experiencing homelessness encounter burdensome requirements, confusing pathways, and barriers to getting connected to the right resources at the right time. In recent years, Chicago’s homeless services system has remained nimble in the response to new needs, opportunities, and funding requirements, but we know the system can work much better for the people and households it is intended to serve.
This initiative seeks to make a real, meaningful shift: from a system designed around programs and funder requirements to one designed around the needs, goals, and experiences of people seeking housing and services.
We recognize that redesigning a system of this scale requires broad partnership, transparency, and a willingness to learn together. We are committed to providing regular updates and creating meaningful opportunities for organizations, providers, community partners, and people with lived experience to contribute throughout the process.
