2024 Norman H. Stone Awardee
In 1975 Peter Holsten founded Holsten Real Estate Development Corporation (HREDC), growing it into a team of companies including real estate development, property management, construction management and social services, with a mission to develop affordable, mixed income, and mixed-use housing using creative site selection and financing; cost-efficient construction; leasing and sales strategies that are effective in the community; with comprehensive supportive services at its core.
Jackie Taylor Holsten, joined the Holsten companies almost 25 years ago to head up Holsten’s social service arm and transformed it into a nonprofit, Holsten Human Capital Development (HHCD) NFP, that provides services to the residents of Holsten on the north, west, and south sides of Chicago as well as Joliet and Riverdale, Illinois. They are most proud of the HREDC/HHCD partnership that bought and renovated Lawson House boasting 406 furnished efficiency units on the Gold Coast for formerly homeless, veterans, and zero to very low-income residents.
