Training Objectives:
• Understand core skills for successful case management
• Engage in exercises that create realistic situations and expose participants to a broad range of engagement strategies that will explore circumstances and difficulties that occurs when engaging a client in services.
• This is part one in a series of topics exploring the “A Day in the Life” of a case manager

Description: This training series will support case managers and supervisors to use a collaborative approach to client-centered and trauma-informed goal setting that facilitates incremental and lasting change. This training will assist in rethinking the development of SMART goals so that they can be incorporated into the daily lives of clients making them attainable and strengthening your relationship with the client. You will learn how to collaboratively set goals, elicit ideas from clients that identify strengths and potential barriers, identify practical next steps and to clarify expectations while simultaneously creating a supportive environment to review progress.

Follow-up Session(s): The follow-up session will be building from initial training focus will be on lecture and implementation reframing this question “What did you learn from this training?”

• Round table discussion that could best practice for implementation

• Role-plays scenarios how can we implement motivational interviewing tie back into the core principle
