Training Objectives:

1. Understand what human trafficking is and how to identify it
2. Learn skills and best practices to identify and respond to survivors of human trafficking
3. Understand legal remedies available to survivors of human trafficking
4. Increase knowledge of trauma-informed care principles as it relates to responding to and providing critical services to survivors of human trafficking
5. This training is for housing providers, case managers, advocates, managers, and social workers.

Presenters: Darci Flynn is currently the Associate Director of the Freedom from Trafficking (FFT) Program at Heartland Alliance (HA). Over the past seven years, Darci has become a local and national expert on providing quality, trauma-informed services to survivors of human trafficking. She has trained over 3,000 individuals across a variety of professions nationally. She has served

At FFT, Darci supervises the case management team which supports foreign-national survivors in the Chicagoland area on their pathway to safety and independence. Additionally, Darci has spent the past three years, leading a project to build capacity to identify and serve survivors of human trafficking in two targeted communities in Illinois. In this role, she provides training and technical assistance to service providers, community partners, and key stakeholders, including assisting in operating a 24-hour emergency response protocol. Finally, Darci helps to provide support and technical assistance to a national network of service providers through the Trafficking Victim Assistance Program in partnership with USCRI.

She is an active member of the Cook County Human Trafficking Task Force and a co-chair of the IL Statewide Taskforce on Human Trafficking. She has also been a trainer/facilitator for the Freedom Network Training Institute for the past four years.
