Supporting Change

Supporting Change

This line of work, made up mainly of the CoC Board of Directors, supports the infrastructure to drive implementation as strategically and as quickly as possible, paves the way for the next phases of the work, and maximizes the capacity of the people power within Chicago's Homeless Response System. Activities include working with the Lived Experience Commission to maximize their impact, refining the CoC governance and committee structure, capacity building/ training, and bridging to other systems.

This group has also been charged with implementing the Action Agenda refinement plan through community input. Along with this, this group has provided updates to the refinement plan to ensure consistency and transparency. See below for details:

  • Action Agenda Leadership Group Structure - deliverable identified in the Action Agenda Refinement Planin response to enhancing decision-making transparency. The document was developed to provideclarificationand transparency around the purpose, activities, and composition of the Leadership Groupswithin the Lines of Work implementation structure
  • Action Agenda Leadership Workgroups - Workgroup structures vary across lines of work based on specific needs of each group and the norms that the leadership groups have worked through together to meet their primary goals. Lines of work with no current leadership structure include Communications, Crisis System Transition Supporting Change, and Street Response. The first two groups will have a leadership body in place by the end of 2019. The final two groups will not due to the ad-hoc nature of their work.

Lived Experience Commission

The Lived Experience Commission (LEC) is a coalition of individuals who are receiving or have received services from Chicago’s homeless system, people who were formerly homeless, or people at risk of becoming homeless. This commission was formed to ensure an organized voice for those with lived experience of homelessness.
