How to Register for the Cohort:

All steps must be completed by October
1. Click on "Start the course."
2. Locate the "Registrant and Supervisor Acknowledgement Form" in the "Files" section of the course. Print, complete, and acquire signatures on the form. Scan and save the file onto your computer.
3. Under "Content," access the assignment entitled "Upload Registrant and Supervisor Acknowledgement Form." At the bottom of the page, select "click here to upload file." Upload your file.

WHERE: There will be four weekly webinars culminating in the completion of the SOAR online course. The cohort will then meet again for a full day in-person fundamentals training following completion of the course.

Trainer: Margaret Smith, Program Manager at All Chicago, will facilitate the webinars. Fundamentals training speaker TBD.

DESCRIPTION: All Chicago will facilitate a SOAR Online Course Cohort, to kick off on October 15th. Completing the SOAR Online Course as part of a cohort allows course participants to complete the SOAR Online Course lessons in a structured, supported way. The cohort will complete lessons at a pace of 2 lessons per week. Each week, the cohort will join a webinar conference call to review course material and answer questions. Participation in the cohort is open to any service provider in the city of Chicago and is free of charge. Upon successful completion, all participants can receive 20 CEUs from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and will be certified to complete SOAR applications.

SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) is an evidence-based model for assisting people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness in applying for public disability benefits. In 2018, SOAR had a national SSI/SSDI approval rate of 65%, compared with the non-SOAR approval rate of 10-15% for people experiencing homelessness.

Description: All Chicago will host an introductory community conversation on racial equity in the Chicago homeless system. Data derived from the Chicago Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) will be presented to generate interactive large and small group discussions about racial disparities in our system. As a community, we'll explore action steps to begin developing strategies for identifying and addressing systemic racial disparities and strengthening a culture of inclusiveness.
